Yosemite Honeymoon Session

All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God’s eternal beauty and love.
— John Muir

When Nuraini e-mailed me in June, she told me that she and Amin were coming from Singapore to California for their honeymoon and that they were interested in a photo session in Yosemite; you could say that Josh and I were pretty excited, especially because it would be in autumn.

When we arrived in the valley on a Friday night, we four met in the guest lounge and instantly connected. We made our plan for the next day and decided to see the sunrise over the valley from Glacier Point--not for the "official" photo session, just for the experience of it. While the sun rose, we made hot coffee and oats over our camp stove and enjoyed our time as we took in the vast view.  The first set of images below are of Nuraini and Amin just being themselves and enjoying the morning.

After lunch we made our way to Tuolumne Grove for a colorful, cultural and traditional session in the forest. The diversity of the world is what makes it so beautiful, so during this time, Josh and I tried to learn as much as we could about their culture and country. Now we're dreaming (and hopeful) of traveling to Singapore in the future!

The last half of our session together was down in the Valley for sunset. What I love most about these images, is how relaxed they both were--at this point, it didn't seem like it was about getting the perfect photo, but rather, being present to and loving the moment that they were in. Josh and I both loved these moments with them and the entire day. In fact, our time and adventure with Amin and Nuraini was one of the most fun times we've ever had during our photography career.

Amin and Nuraini, you're incredible people. Thank you for hanging out and getting creative, goofy, serious and authentic with us. It was an honor to work with you and also learn from you. We'll treasure this time forever.
